Hello Fans of All Our Tragic,
I wanted to take a second to thank you for an exciting 2014.
From January to May 2014, I was still writing the script at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, boy I miss that place, with the marvelous grad student actors at the A.R.T. Institute, boy I miss those guys.
February 2014, I began discussing a possible production in Chicago for the summer of 2014.
March 2014, I began casting the show and working with my excellent design team trying to bring this monster to life.
April 2014, we launched a funding campaign for $40,000, a goal that was hitherto impossible for The Hypocrites.
In May we had a final reading in Cambridge, MA reading the script fully off of Kindles, an advent that made rehearsals in Chicago actually possible.
In June, with The Hypocrites in Chicago we began rehearsals for the very first production. The script suffered through many re-writes as I worked with the excellent cast trying to get this monster on its feet. I really miss the cast.
August through September, we ran All Our Tragic for sold out audiences. Who would have thought that a 12-hour play would be such a success. I received so many positive responses from audiences and critics. Every compliment meant the world to me. I loved the show and everyone involved.
September, we passed our fundraising goal of $40,000. Thank you for all the support.
October, we announced that we would remount it in the summer of 2015 and began to sell tickets immediately. Tickets are still on sale. The earlier you buy them, the more funding we will be able to receive. Go here to purchase tickets for summer 2015.
November, I did a lot of edits based on the production. Then we went to beautiful Los Angeles and performed at the Getty Villa Lab for a week. It was such a wonderful experience. I would love to be able to share this piece with more cities throughout the country. We are planning on making the summer production tourable, let me know if you or a theater you favor wants to present The Hypocrites’ production of All Our Tragic in the future. We would love to come.
December, I did more edits including reducing the cast size from 23 actors to 17 actors. I made me sad to lose some talented people from the cast, but the script is much more manageable and I think will be easier to exist in Equity theaters. I am very pleased with the changes and cannot wait to get into the rehearsal room
Today, we are officially launching our fundraising campaign for the re-mount with the insane goal of $75,000. I have my work cut out for me. Who wants to be first? Donate here.
As always, thank you for reading and being interested in All Our Tragic, let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely, Sean firstname.lastname@example.org
